Our Process, Our Warranty and Cabinet Maintenance

We would like to share with you the processes involved in completing an order with us – and to address any circumstances that may arise in the future. This page also includes our Warranty and Cabinet Maintenance information.

The Process

Order Confirmation and Site Measure

An order is not considered to be confirmed until all required specifications have been received and all required documents have been signed. We are not able to confirm and forward your order to our Production Department until the site has been measured. It is critical that the site be measured to verify the space available for the cabinets and (if applicable) to confirm the exact dimensions for the laminate countertops. Site measures are conducted by Delton personnel – generally after the framing has been completed.

Predicted installation dates

Once your order is confirmed, every effort is made to complete the order in a timely and professional manner. Based on the information available at the time, we may offer a predicted installation date. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, delays do occur.

The production process

Once we receive the required confirmation for your order, the Job File is transferred to our Production Department. The technicians in our Production Department use specially formatted software that is specific to cabinetmaking. Layouts and drawings are converted to a CAD format compatible with our construction methods – including cut lists, door sizes and all of the exact measurements and details for the manufacturing processes.

During the production process, purchase orders are issued for non-stock items such as custom hardware and laminate countertops. Depending on the workload at the time, a file generally takes 5 to 7 working days to process and be forwarded to the Plant for manufacturing.

The manufacturing process

All of our custom and semi-custom cabinets are made to order. Since there is very little consistency in sizes, styles and colours, we are not able to pre-make cabinets. Depending on the workload at the time, an order generally takes from five to eight weeks to manufacture and assemble. Large, complex orders or orders with special hardware or custom colours may take a few days longer. As soon as the cabinets are ready, they can be shipped to site for installation.

The installation process

Delton Cabinet’s installers offer timely and professional installations. In the midst of our busiest time of year, the scheduling time for our installers may be 1 to 2 weeks after the cabinets are finished. As you may be aware, Delton Cabinet also installs laminate countertops at the same time as the cabinets, thereby saving an additional 3 to 4 weeks – compared to other suppliers.

The Process – to summarize:

The production process (usually) 1 week, then The manufacturing process (seasonal) 5 to 8 weeks, then Scheduling for the installation (may take) 1 or 2 weeks, and Completing the installation (typically) 1 to 2 days Total time after site measure (approximately) 7 to 11 weeks

Built to a higher standard

Celebrating 52 years in 2010, Delton Cabinet Mfg. Ltd. has the expertise and the capacity to provide you with the highest quality of kitchen, bath and entertainment system cabinetry at the best value. The following value-added components are included with every Delton Cabinet order. All cabinet boxes are constructed with 5/8” thick, G2S panels throughout – as opposed to the practice of some manufacturers to include 1/2", 1/4" or 1/8” thick components. By utilizing G2S panels we are able to greatly reduce off-gassing. Further and to enhance strength, durability and value, we utilize dowelled and glued construction techniques. Delton’s standard, heavy-duty drawer construction is 5/8” G2S melamine throughout (no 1/8” drawer bottoms). The Delton emblem on the sink panel reinforces the statement that your new “Delton” cabinets were built to a higher standard.

Wood, stain and your new cabinets

Due to the nature of wood and stain, there can and will be, slight variations in colour and graining between our showroom samples and the actual finished product. Wood is a product of nature and no two pieces are identical. These variations contribute to the natural beauty of using an organic material and are acceptable throughout the cabinetmaking industry. Variations within these cabinetmaking standards will not be reason for replacement. Customers interested in perfectly consistent colour and graining should consider painted cabinetry or some of the synthetic materials offered such as laminate.

A few words about Warranty and Service

Two major factors that may affect your new cabinets are foundation movement and humidity. There may be occasions when a new home experiences slight settling during the first several months following your move-in. This may cause cabinet doors to become misaligned or may cause some minor separation in small joints such as mouldings or trim.

The humidity level in a new or renovated home following the application of the drywall is often considerably higher than normal. In some cases, this may cause the doors and panels to take on additional moisture and “swell”.

We are certainly aware of the stresses associated with moving into your new home or renovating your existing home. If there are any cabinetry items that require service or repair, we suggest that you make a list and contact our Service Manager following your move-in or completion date. We will do our best to schedule our Customer Service Representative to address these items in a timely manner.
